The Mayor came to see us perform our Christmas Carol Concert!

On Tuesday 13th December the boys and girls performed their Christmas carol concert to lots and lots of parents, grandparents and siblings. We also had some very special visitors this year, the Mayor and Mayoress of Winchester. The children practiced lots of different songs for the special day including ‘Twinkle Twinkle’, ’Jingle Bells’ and ‘Father Christmas’ and they performed them beautifully at the concert. Afterwards there were mince pies, some of which were made by the children and orange juice for everybody. The Mayor enjoyed his homemade mince pie!

Bag 2 School Collection

We would like to thank all the parents who kindly donated old textiles for the Bags 2 School scheme. The bags were collected this morning and we were told that the combined weight was 234kg! As we will receive £0.50 for every kilogram collected, it means that you have helped us to raise £117 for some new resources, so thankyou very much!

Link Romania Shoebox Appeal 2011

A huge thankyou to all the nursery families who donated a shoebox full of goodies for this years Link Romania Appeal. A total of 15 boxes were collected and Anita drove them to a designated collector. From there they will be driven to familes in Romania, Moldova, Albania, Bulgaria, and Ukraine so they too can have something special to open at Christmas time.

Halloween 2011

Lots of witches, skeletons, bats and cats came to nursery on Monday 31st October as the nursery children and teachers dressed up for Halloween. Leading up to the day we baked some Halloween cakes with orange and black icing on, we carved some scary faces on our pumpkins, made some scary decorations to put on the ceiling and even found some spiders in the wobbly jelly! Overall, a fun filled day!

Self-Evaluation Joint Annual Review- The Nursery is ‘Outstanding’!

On Wednesday 11th May 2011 we took part in our joint annual review completed by a member of the Children’s Link team. We started with a celebratory walk around the setting before reviewing each aspect of the nursery. The review and feedback was fantastic and we scored TOP MARKS for each area we were assessed on! We are very proud of the outcome and we wish to thank all those involved at the nursery.

Outstanding in All Areas

Ofsted came on 13^th April and stayed all day with us gaining an insight into what it is actually like as a child in the nursery setting. Proudly it was deemed Outstanding, so huge Thanks to all the staff that make the nursery such a special place.

We had a very exciting visit from The Police and Safer Neighbourhood team Kevin Hercock, Rob Window and Holly. The children took delight in wearing the various helmets, climbing in the Police car pressing the Siren buttons, and handcuffing their teachers!! Big Thanks to Kevin, Rob and Holly for taking the time to spend with us.

We have been digging and planting vegetables in the vegetable garden, especially enjoying the watering and we eagerly look forward to reaping the rewards of our labour and of course chopping them up for our healthy lunch or tea!

Exciting times ahead as our older children will be visiting their “Big schools” for stay and play sessions, and morning visits, in readiness for September.

The children will be supporting the Big Toddle on Wednesday 26^th May to raise money for Barnados. All parents and children are welcome to join in.
